World no. 26 and Asia's no. 2 Gilas Pilipinas Youth used a strong start to beat Asia's no. 4 and world no. 29 Korea, 95-71 in the qualification to quarterfinals of the 2023 FIBA U16 Asian Championship on early Friday morning, September 22 (PHL time) at the Al-Gharafa Sports Club Multi-Purpose Hall in Doha, Qatar. They are now one win away from securing a spot in the 2024 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup. [VIDEO]

The Josh Reyes-mentored Gilas Pilipinas Youth U16 advances to the quarterfinals and will play the undefeated Japan (3-0) on early Saturday morning at 12:30am, September 23 (PHL time) [LIVE]. The top 4 teams (semifinalists) of the 2023 FIBA U16 Asian Championship will earn a spot in the 2024 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup to be held in Turkey from June 29 to July 7, 2024.
