Gilas Pilipinas Women (1-3) made a fourth-quarter comeback attempt, but it fell short as the South Korean professional basketball women's team, Busan BNK Sum (3-1) who plays for the Women's Korean Basketball League (WKBL), secured a 65-59 victory in the 2023 William Jones Cup on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at the Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium in Taipei City in Taiwan. The Patrick Aquino-mentored Gilas Women suffered its third loss of the tournament, having only won against Iran. They are set to play their final game on August 9 at 3:00pm against the undefeated Chanson V-Magic of Japan (4-0). The Japanese team secured a victory against South Korea 98-73 yesterday, allowing them to claim the top spot in the standings.
