Gilas Pilipinas Men used a strong fourth quarter to once again beat the Team B of Iran men's national basketball team, 63-48 on Monday, August 7 in the last game of the 2023 Ziaoqing WUS International Basketball Tournament at the Xiaoqing Sport Center, China. [VIDEO]
Dwight Ramos top-scored for Gilas with 17 points (6/6 2pts, 1/4 3pts, 2/3 ft) to go with 14 rebounds, 3 assists and a block, Jamie Malonzo had a double-double game of 11 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and a block. Kiefer Ravena had a solid game of 9 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 assists while AJ Edu finished with 8 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
Leading by 1 at the end of the third quarter, Gilas had a solid fourth-quarter run, outscoring the young Iranians 19-5.
The Chot Reyes-mentored Gilas training pool in China consists of June Mar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar, AJ Edu, Rhenz Abando, Jamie Malonzo, Chris Newsome, Calvin Oftana, Bobby Ray Parks Jr., CJ Perez, Roger Pogoy, Dwight Ramos, Kiefer Ravena and Thirdy Ravena.
Jordan Clarkson is now en route to Manila to join the Gilas Pilipinas national team for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. The Filipino-American guard departed from Los Angeles on Monday morning, PHL time.
