Gilas Pilipinas Women (1-4) wrapped up their 2023 William Jones Cup campaign with a loss to the undefeated Japan's Chanson V-Magic team (5-0), 95-88 on Wednesday, August 9 at the Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium in Taipei City in Taiwan. [VIDEO]
The Chanson V-Magic, a team that plays in the Women's Japan Basketball League (W League), secured the championship by sweeping the round-robin format tournament with 5 wins while the Philippines finished 5th overall with a lone victory against Iran, who placed 6th and last with a record of 0-5.
The Patrick Aquino-mentored Philippine women's national basketball team will now shift their focus to the upcoming Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, scheduled to take place from September 23 to October 8, 2023.
