Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots defeated the TNT Tropang GIGA, 110-102 in the opeing day of the 2023-24 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Sunday, November 5 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum

Tyler Tarik Bey had a double-double in his PBA debut, leading the Hotshots in opening their campaign on a winning note with 31 points on 11-of-24 shooting, along with a game-high 20 rebounds, 1 assist, and 3 steals. Andy Mark Barroca had a solid output of 19 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Paul Lee added 17 points (3/10 3pts), 2 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Quincy Miller, the temporary import replacement for Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, led the Tropang Giga in a losing effort with a game-high 36 points (14/26 FG, 3/12 3pts, 6/10 FT), to go with 14 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 steals, and 2 blocks.

Calvin Oftana had a solid performance, scoring 28 points, including 7-of-13 from beyond the arc. He also contributed with 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, and a block. Meanwhile, Kelly Williams finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals.

Magnolia shot 42% from the field (40/94fg), including 9-of-28 shooting from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, TNT had 39 out of 86 field goals and made 15 out of 47 attempts from three-point range. The Hotshots went 21 out of 25 from the free-throw line, while the Tropang Giga made 9 out of 14 free throws. Magnolia outrebounded TNT 63-40 and had more bench points, 41-18.
