Gilas out-scored Iran 26-9 in the pivotal third period to take control of the game, but the Iranians' fourth-quarter comeback attempt fell short. Kacey dela Rosa led the Gilas Women with 12 points along with 8 rebounds, 1 steal and a block. Jhazmin Joson finoshed with 12 points (4/8 3pts) and 2 rebounds while Jack Animam had a solid game of 7 points, game-high 15 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks.

Following a 3-year break due to COVID-19 pandemic, the R. William Jones Cup, an international basketball tournament hosted by the Chinese Taipei Basketball Association since 1977, is making its return. The 42nd William Jones Cup is scheduled to take place at Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium in Taipei City from August 5 to 9 for the women's event, while the men's event will start from August 12 to 20, 2023.
