Barangay Ginebra escapes past rival Magnolia Timplados Hotshots, 87-84 in 'Manila Clasico' Game 1 of their best-of-5 semifinal series in the 2022-23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Wednesday, December 14 at the PhilSports Arena.
Jamie Malonzo led the Gin Kings with a double-double performance of 21 points (6/14fg, 2/7 3pts, 7/7ft) along with 12 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals. Scottie Thompson with a solid game of 16 points , 7 rebounds, 6 assists and a block while Christian Standhardinger added 14 points (5/8fg, 4/10ft), 6 rebounds and 1 assist.
The Hotshots was forced to play without import Nick Rakocevic with still 6:31 left in the third quarter after incurring a second technical foul.
