Gilas Pilipinas Youth U18 bows to hosts Iran U18 national team in the 'Battle for 5th' in the 2022 FIBA U18 Asian Championships on Sunday, August 28 at the Azadi Basketball Hall in Tehran, Iran.
Mohammad Amini led Iran with an assist shy of a triple-double of 19 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists and a steal. Matyar Ahmadpour added 19 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals.
The Josh Reyes-mentored Gilas Youth finished 6th overall. Mason Francis Amos paced Gilas with 22 points (6/12 3pts) to go with 5 rebounds while Earl Jared Abadam had 18 points along with 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.
