Gilas Pilipinas Youth U18 defeated Chinese Taipei U18 national team, 72-67 in the classification round of the 2022 FIBA U18 Asian Championships on Friday, August 26 at the Azadi Basketball Hall in Tehran, Iran.
Mason Francis Amos led the Gilas Youth with 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting along with 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Jared Bahay finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and a steal while Earl Abadam had 14 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.
Gilas committed 27 turnovers while Taipei only had 15, PHL shot 26/70 (37%) from the field including 4-of-19 shooting from downtown (TPE - 22/70 fg, 5/24 3pts) and Gilas went 16-of-26 from the free throw line (TPE - 18/27 ft). Gilas outrebounded Taipei 65-34.
