Lebanon (world #54, Asia #9) defeated Gilas Pilipinas Men (world #34, Asia #6), 95-80 in the second day of the FIBA Asia Cup 2022 on Wednesday at the Istora Senayan Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Lebanese star Wael Arakji led Lebanon with game-high 20 points (7/16 fg, 6/6 ft) along with 4 assists, 1 rebound, 1 steal and a block in 32 minutes of play. 6-foot-9 naturalized player Jonathan Arledge with a solid game of 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting including two 3-pointers to go with 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocks and 1 assist while Hayk Gyokchyan added 19 points (6/8 fg, 4/5 3pt, 3/3 ft), eight rebounds, two assists and a steal.
SJ Belangel paced Gilas with 17 points (6/11 fg, 3/8 3pts, 2/2 ft), 3 assists and 2 steals. Bobby Ray Parks Jr added 15 points (4/7 3pts) while Carl Tamayo had 15 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks and a steal.
Gilas will face India on July 15, 2022 (Friday, 4:00PM PHL time).
