The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) unveils new logo of the federation and for all Philippine national basketball teams: Gilas Pilipinas Men, Gilas Pilipinas Women, Gilas Pilipinas Youth, and Gilas Pilipinas 3X3 on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The SBP is also changing its logo: SBP Academy (Coaches and Tournaments) and SBP Academy (Referees and Table Officials).

As per ESPN5, The newly-minted Gilas Pilipinas logo features a Philippine Eagle merging with a basketball, meant to show the Filipino's love for the game. The italicized font was chosen to illustrate the forward motion towards a bright future in the sport.

SBP president Al Panlilio:

"After 10 years, we felt it was timely to refresh the SBP logo to give it a new look,"

"The bolder look signifies strength and our disciplined direction."

"It is more than a face lift,"

"Combined with the restructuring that we are doing, we will continue to find ways to bring the SBP to greater heights."

"The restructuring was proposed because we wanted to minimize confusion and ensure that we are headed towards the right direction,"

"There are clear cut deliverables and accountability among each individual."

"Yung Philippine eagle is still there, but yung rendition niya is quite different, with an emerging basketball, showing our love for the game obviously. And the italicize font illustrates the ball motion towards a bright future for the sport." said the SBP president.
