De La Salle Green Archers (DLSU) defeated the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons 82-60 in Game 2 to force a sudden death in their best-of-3 Men's Basketball Finals in the 2023 UAAP Season 86 on Sunday, December 3, in front of a massive crowd of 20,863 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
Francis Escandor led the Green Archers in scoring with a game-high 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc along with 1 rebound, 1 assist and a block. Joshua David had a solid game of 12 points (4/6 3pts), 2 rebounds and a steal while CJ Austria added 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.
UAAP Season 86 MVP Kevin Quiambao bounced back with a near double-double, registering 9 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist, and a game-high 3 blocks. Michael Phillips finished with 9 points, 13 rebounds, 1 asssist, 1 steal and 2 blocks. Evan Nelle had a double-double of 4 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, 5 steals and a block.
The do-or-die Finals Game 3 is on Wedneday, December 6 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum at 6:00pm.
