World No. 36 and Asia’s No. 7 Gilas Pilipinas Men (2-2) suffered another loss against World No. 6 Australian Boomers (4-0), 93-66, in their second game of the second window of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers (Group A) on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. Gilas stayed within reach through the first two quarters, heading into halftime down by only five, 38–33. But the Boomers shifted gears in the third, erupting for 30 points to blow the game open and take command. Australia’s well-rounded attack and suffocating defense took over after the break, using sharp shooting and crisp ball movement to vpreserve their unbeaten 4–0 record. The defeat sent Gilas to 2–2, unable to keep pace with the Boomers’ depth and intensity in the closing stretch.

Gilas Pilipinas (2-2) will resume their Asian Qualifiers campaign in the next window on July 3, 2026 against New Zealand (2-2), and on July 6, 2026 against Australia (4-0).
