Barangay Ginebra (3-0) defeated the winless NorthPort Batang Pier (0-5), 115-100 to grab their third straight win and spoil Robert Bolick comeback in the 2023 PBA Governors' Cup on Friday, February 10 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Jamie Malonzo led the GinKings with a double-double performance of 28 points (10/17fg, 2/4 3pts, 6/8ft) along with ten rebounds, four assists and four blocks. Justin Brownlee had another triple-double of 22 points (9/18fg, 1/6 3pts, 3/3ft) to go with fifteen rebounds, twelve assists and three steals.
Nards Pinto with another solid output of 18 points (6/10fg, 4/6 3pts, 2/3ft), two rebounds, one assist and one steal while Jeremiah Gray added 6 points (3/6 3pts), seven rebounds, two assists and one block.
As per the Manila Times, coach Tim Cone said there is no timetable for the return of Japeth Aguilar and Christian Standhardinger, who are both nursing knee injuries.
Kevin Murphy paced the Batang Pier in the losing effort with a double-double of his own with 38 points, eleven rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block while Robert Bolick finished with 30 points (11/21fg, 1/6 3pts, 7/8ft), five rebounds, three assists and one steal in 39 minutes of play.
Ginebra will face the Magnolia Hotshots (1-3) in the Manila Clasico on Sunday, February 12 at 6:45pm at the MOA Arena. [LIVE]
