Magnolia Timplados Hotshots escapes past the no.7 Phoenix Super LPG, 102-95 in their quarterfinals matchup in the 2022-23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Friday, December 9 at the PhilSports Arena.
Magnolia advances to the best-of-5 semis and now awaits the winner between Ginebra-NorthPort quarterfinal series.
Calvin Abueva led the Hotshots with 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting to go with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Nicholas Rakocevic shook off an injury scare to finish with a double-double of 18 points (5/13fg, 1/2 3pts, 7/8ft) along with 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals and 5 blocks in 42 minutes of play. Mark Barroca had 16 points, 5 assists and a steal while Paul Lee and Adrian Wong added 15 and 11 points, respectively.
