Leigh Wood (26-2, 16KOs) pulled off a stunning comeback to brutally knockout Michael Conlan (16-1, 8KOs) to retain his WBA "regular" featherweight title on Saturday night, March 12 (Sunday morning in Manila, March 13) at the Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, England.

Conlan dropped Wood hard at the end of the first round with a left hand and hurting him repeatedly afterwards but Wood dropped Conlan in the 11th round with a left and stopped Conlan at 1:25 of the 12th round. The powerful punch sent Michael Conlan - a 2012 Olympic bronze medallist - through the ropes and onto the floor and he was later carried out of the arena on a stretcher and taken to hospital. UPDATE: As per Matchroom Boxing chief executive Frank Smith tweeting that Conlan was “conscious and stable” on arrival.
