Asia's #3 New Zealand defeated Asia's #6 Gilas Pilipinas, 88-63 to claim their second win in Group A of the FIBA World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers on Sunday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

Tom Vodanovich led the Tall Blacks with a double-double performance of 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting including two 3-pointers along with 10 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal. Dion Prewster with solid game of 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists while Rob Loe with a double-double of fifteen points and ten rebounds.

Thirdy Ravena paced Gilas with 23 points (9/18 FG, 2/6 3PT, 3/10 FT), five rebounds, five assists, five steals and one block in 34 minutes of play while Dwight Ramos finished with a double-double of 18 points (6/17 FG, 1/6 3PT, 5/9 FT), 10 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 blocks and 2 assists. Robert Bolick finished with 10 points, Ange Kouame had 5 points and 4 rebounds.

Gilas committed 13 turnovers (NZ - 19to) in the contest, only shot 24/67 (35%) from the field including 5-of-25 shooting from downtown (NZ - 31/67 fg, 9/29 3pts) and went 10-of-23 from the free throw line (NZ - 17/25 ft). Tall Blacks outrebounded Gilas, 54-34. New Zealand also had more assists (NZ 15 / PHL 10) but Gilas had more steals (PHL 12 / NZ 2).
