World #7 France defeated world #23 Iran, 79-62 in the preliminary round (Group A) of the Men's Basketball 2020 Tokyo Olympics on Saturday at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

France finished top of Group A with a perfect 3-0 record and advances to the quarterfinal round. Thomas Heurtel led Les Bleus with 16 points (7/9 FG, 2/3 3PT) and 3 rebounds. Nando De Colo finished with a perfect game of 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting, 2/2 in the free throw line with 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal in 15 minutes of play.
